  2. Psalm 51v10; create in me a clean heart o God and renew the right spirit within me.

What’s Purity
Literally the word purity is coined from the word pure which simply means to be free from contamination.

It also means the condition or quality of being free from anything that debases or pollutes.

The concept of purity does not apply to sexual immorality alone, it is a concept that affects every part of an individual’s life and the lives of others around us.
Purity describes who we are and what we do. It applies to both the character of an individual as well as to what they do in private and in public.

What does the bible have to say about purity?
Biblically, purity means to be genuine and free from things that can contaminate or pollute. It is likened to the purity of pure gold that has been refined in the fire. It means operating from a clean heart without guile or malice.

The purity of the bible refers to an individual whose sins have been forgiven and whose heart has been made new. This kind of purity does not come from the individual rather it comes from possessing the presence of God.

Purity does not mean having an external or outward form of righteousness that might make people to believe that a person is pure. Purity flows from the heart of an individual and not from the face of an individual.

Purity is internal and not external. It must flow from within and can only occur due to divine intervention in a man’s life which leads to transformation.

Purity happens when a man submits to God in total humility and asks God to take over the affairs of his life. The man would still have a lot of work to do though because once saved is not always saved.

To be totally and completely saved, we must have a pure heart. The pure in heart are those who are saved. They are those that have been washed in the blood of the lamb.
A pure heart will show in our words, choices, thought pattern, relationships and the way we react to situations around us.

Trials and tribulations will often test a man`s purity. It will allow a man to grow in the Lord and be more like Jesus.
Purity does not have a life-span. It is a life-long concept that must be practiced if we are to attain perfection.

Purity keeps us in check and makes us live a life of humility. The fact that we are pure is a gift from God who forgave our sins and gave us the grace to be transformed to the son or daughter of His love.
We must therefore not trample God’s grace in the mud by living in pride or by looking down on others as if they are not created by God.

The purity of the bible propels us to strive towards a higher standard keeping in mind that life is a journey. Our walk with God is a journey of different stages and it is only God that can take us to our desired destinations as ordained by Him.

The concept of biblical purity does not stem from the idea that we must be perfect to be accepted by God. However it does mean that we must come to the point where Jesus is allowed to rule and reign in our lives.
To rule and reign with Jesus and enjoy eternal life and immortality is only possible by the forgiveness of our sins through faith in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Why Is Purity Important In the life of believers?
The value of purity cannot be underestimated and so are the consequences of gross impurity.

  1. Purity propels us forward in life.
  2. Purity creates an avenue to grow in grace and in the knowledge of God.
  3. Purity makes the heart of an individual to yearn for the things of God and to abhor the things that are not of God.
  4. Purity allows us to have access to God and to see His face; (Matthew 5v8).
  5. Purity helps us to discern good from evil and to make the right choices.
  6. Purity reveals our shortcomings and weaknesses to us and it helps us to work on our imperfections.
  7. Purity helps us to avoid traps and prevents us from regrets and guilt.
  8. Purity helps us to build healthy relationships and to discard unhealthy ones.
  9. Purity helps us to avoid bad thoughts which may be detrimental to our health.
  10. Purity helps us to live longer due to the state of our hearts and mind.

Types of purity
There are two types of purity namely;

  1. Positional Purity
  2. Conditional Purity

Positional purity is a situation where the Lord puts believers in a state of holiness or purity after they have been saved. No man born by woman can put anyone in the state or position of a saint except God.
Once believers have been truly saved, God puts them in a position of a saint. I am not talking about believers who pretend to be saved. I am talking about believers who have genuinely given their lives to God and are therefore saved. God sees our hearts and knows each and every one of us inside-out. These set of believers are not only seen as saints by God but are also seen as holy. Their names are in the Lamb’s book of life and they are His forever.

Conditional Purity is dependent on a believer’s walk with God. It is a situation whereby believers fall in and out with God. These set of believers often have misplaced priorities that affects their walk with God. Their misplaced priorities will affect their walk with God so much that they will begin to carry the baggage of impurity in their lives.
Even though their baggage of impurity does not affect their position before God, it affects their relationship with God and limits their fellowship with God. This is simply because they are allowing the impure things in their lives to cause a rift between them and God. The impurities in their lives will do damage to their relationship with God and work contrary to their new nature as permitted by God.

The Blessings of living a life of purity
By living in purity, we are assured of eternity with God on the last day. We will not be amongst those that will be told to depart from Him as a result of their iniquities (Matthew 7v23).
The life of every believer that lives in purity is soaked in God. They are consumed by the thought of God and they are often lost in God and in service to Him.
This enables them to grow spiritually and intellectually. They understand who God is and how He operates. They are not like the unbelievers whose life is alienated from the knowledge of God because of the darkness in them. Unbelievers are spiritually blind and cannot walk with God or fellowship with Him.
The believer that lives in purity is able to see God and the Spirit of God moves in marvelous ways in their lives. The will of God is daily manifested through them because they are led by the Spirit of God and by His Word. They are filled with the Holy Spirit of God and are able to hear and see God because of their personal relationship with Him.
All believers that live in purity are cleansed and washed in the blood of Jesus and are able to live their life under His guidance and authority. This eventually enables them to see God not only spiritually here on earth through His Word but physically as promised in Matthew 5v8.

The five keys to biblical purity

  1. Repent: Ask for God to come into your life and take over your life
  2. Request: Ask for the help of the holy spirit
  3. Resolve: Resolve to do the will of God no matter the situation
  4. Require: Ask God for direction and let Him guide you
  5. Relax: Enjoy the blessings of God.

Prayers;
Dear Heavenly Father, please help me to walk in purity and in holiness. Help me avoid spiritual traps that can affect my walk with You; traps that are set by the evil one to demote me and not to promote me; traps that would lead to one carrying a baggage of impurity. Help me to watch out for these traps and extinguish them by the power of the Holy Spirit. Sweet Holy Spirit of the living God, please! Set my heart on fire for You and realign my life to do Your Will and Yours alone, in Jesus Mighty Name! Amen!
Trillion Amen!
Shalom!
